Roger Moore is an award-winning sports journalist with over a decade of experience covering NCAA Division I sporting events.
His first love is college wrestling, but he has covered everything from local high school swim meets and soccer games to NCAA Wrestling Championships and Final Four basketball games. In 2008, he wrote the feature story for the NCAA College Wrestling Championships program and researched and wrote a book for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
A Gulf War veteran with the rank of sergeant, Moore returned to his hometown of Stillwater, OK, in 1995, and volunteered to cover wrestling for the college newspaper at Oklahoma State University. The local newspaper, the Stillwater NewsPress, took notice of his work and asked him to cover the World Cup in 1996. It was during that assignment that he met legendary wrestling historian Bob Dellinger and realized that writing about sports was his calling.
In 1997, he began assisting with the Oklahoma State wrestling radio broadcasts and every fall, he can be heard on Stillwater Radio along side Rex Holt broadcasting Cowboy wrestling duals and tournament competitions.
He took the Sports Editor position at the Stillwater NewsPress in 1998 and spent a decade managing a staff that not only covered Oklahoma State University sports, but also mutiple sporting events for high schools in five districts.
He left the newspaper business in 2008 to pursue his freelance career. In the Spring of 2012 he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Oklahoma State University and expects to complete work on a Masters Degree in Public History from Oklahoma State in the spring of 2015.
Roger is the lead writer for wrestling for NCAA.com, and also contributes golf and softball. He writes a monthly article for W.I.N. Magazine; strings for the Associated Press; and contributes to TheMat.com and Amateur Wrestling News.
